Unit Information

• Unit: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
• Number of beds: 2
• Patient ratio: 1:1
• Staffing support: Board runner, charge nurse, service line coordinators, ancillary assistance for room turnovers
• Equipment used: Belmont, Electrosurgical Unit (ESU), positioning equipment, cell saver
• Documentation system: Meditech Expanse
• Floating policy: May float to main operating rooms

Schedule

• CST shifts: Monday-Thursday 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM or Monday-Friday 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
• Total hours per week: 36

Procedures Performed

• Open heart surgeries including:

  • Coronary Artery Bypass Grafts (CABG)
  • Mitral Valve Replacement (MVR)
  • Tricuspid Valve Replacement (TVR)
  • Aortic Valve Replacement (AVR)
  • Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS)
  • Vascular procedures

Required Qualifications

• Valid CVOR Technologist license in Virginia
• Minimum 2 years of CVOR Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Certified Surgical Technologist experience
• Completion of an assessment for the role of Surgical Technologist or knowledge of USP 800 Hazardous Drug Risk
• Skills:

  • Teamwork and proactive problem solving
  • Scrubbing or circulating during procedures
  • Room setup and turnover
  • Obtaining disposables and instrument sets as needed
  • Advanced sterile technique
  • Central line and arterial line setup
  • Operation and setup of Belmont and cell saver equipment
• Excellent communication skills for direct patient contact and collaboration with providers and team members

• Scrubs provided

• Candidates will work in a highly specialized cardiovascular OR environment with advanced technology and experienced staff.
• Floating to main ORs may be required.
