ER Nurse

Overview

• 13-week assignment for 2 ER nurses
• Location: Westminster, Colorado
• Shift: Nights
• Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week

Unit Details

• Unit: ER/ED
• Level 3 Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center
• 20 beds and 2 trauma bays
• Average volume: 150 patients per day
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-5 based on acuity
• ER holds are intermixed within the ER
• No separate psych/seclusion rooms

Required Qualifications

• Colorado RN license
• PALS
• ACLS (AHA)
• BLS (AHA)
• NIHSS
• TNCC

Role Expectations

• RN must be able to read and interpret telemetry
• Techs support unit secretary work, assist nurses on the floor, and assist in triage
• RT is available 24/7 and performs breathing treatments and ABGs
• Will be trained to perform Point of Care lab testing
• Charge nurse takes an assignment

Floating

• Travelers are expected to float throughout the 60-mile zone they are hired into
• Floating may include ERs within the region/zone
• Could float between 84th and 144th ED
• Could float within Zone 3 if needed

Scheduling

• Every other weekend
• Every other holiday
• Schedule is made by leadership based on needs
• 2-3 days of unit/department-specific orientation
• Clinicians must be in state for the week of orientation, even if first-day modules are remote
