Job Description

A regional hospital in Arizona's White Mountains is seeking a Labor & Delivery (L&D) Travel Nurse for three 12-hour night shifts per week with guaranteed hours and no cancellations. This role offers the chance to work in a scenic area with many outdoor activities nearby.

Schedule & Shift Details

• Shift: Nights, 6 PM to 6 AM
• Weekend Requirement: Minimum 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule (flexible as long as coverage is maintained)
• Orientation: Every Monday
• Floating: May float to Emergency Department (ED) or Medical-Surgical (MS) units if experienced
• Call: One shift per 4-week schedule

Unit Information

• 7 Labor & Delivery beds
• 2 Triage beds
• 10 Postpartum beds
• Approximately 1-3 births per day (about 830 births per year)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:2
• Respiratory Therapist available 24/7
• Support staff includes Patient Care Technicians, Health Unit Secretaries, OB scrub techs, and Health Unit Coordinators
• No in-house OB/Neonatologist; nurses must manage emergencies until provider arrival
• 24/7 pharmacy on site

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Arizona
• Minimum 3 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience, including at least 2 years of recent L&D experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Intermediate Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN certification preferred)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• Experience working with high-risk patients
• Experience in Emergency Department (ED) and Medical-Surgical (MedSurg) settings
• Proficient in fetal monitoring and managing fetal distress
• Experience with C-sections required
• Strong clinical assessment skills to handle OB emergencies independently
• Experience in couplet care and flexibility to work in L&D and postpartum settings
