Cath Lab RN (Travel) - West Virginia

Location

• City: Weirton, WV
• Facility: Medium-sized hospital in northern West Virginia
• Short drive from Pittsburgh, PA

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Schedule

• 12-hour day shifts (05:30 - 18:00)
• 36 hours per week, typically 3 shifts per week
• Cath Lab open Monday through Friday
• On-call 1-2 weeknights per week
• On-call every 4th weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
• May be asked to participate in holiday call rotation
• Call response time: 30 minutes with a 4-person team (2 RNs, 2 Cardiovascular Techs)

Unit Details

• Cath Lab/IR with 2 Cath Labs, 1 Hybrid Room, 7 Holding Rooms
• Average 16 cases per day (4-12 cases per room)
• Busiest days: Mondays and Thursdays

Patient Population / Case Types

• Cardiac: PCI & diagnostic (LHC & RHC), pacemaker implants
• Vascular and Interventional Radiology cases
• Mediports and dialysis catheters
• Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) stenting in hybrid lab
• Equipment used: Impellas, IABP, shockwave, IVUS, FFR, IFR, Swan-Ganz catheters, roto devices

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2 years Cath Lab experience
• Exposure to Interventional Radiology (IR) and peripheral vascular cases
• Experience with advanced equipment: Impellas, IABP, shockwave, IVUS, FFR, IFR, Swan-Ganz, roto
• Comfortable with conscious sedation and airway management
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry rhythms and respond appropriately
• PICC line insertion experience

Certifications

• BLS required
• ACLS preferred/optional

Job Duties

• Pre-admission and post-procedure care in holding area
• Procedural nursing in Cath Lab
• IV conscious sedation and airway management
• PICC line insertion

Orientation & Training

• 2-3 shifts of unit-specific orientation with a preceptor
• Orientation includes day shifts plus on-call coverage
• One weekend call every 2-3 weekends during orientation

Additional Information

• EMR: Currently GE MacLab, switching to Phillips Xper in 2025
• Charge nurse present on each shift; assists with flow and assignments
• No floating requirements
• Scrubs provided (royal blue)
• Must submit unexpired driver’s license with application
• Licensing issues must be disclosed at time of submission
