Tele RN Opportunity – Neuro/Spine Unit

Location: Santa Cruz, California
Unit: Tele 2NE Neuro/Spine (up to 25 beds)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of solid Tele nursing experience (required for night shift)
• Active California RN license
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification preferred
• COVID vaccine required (with certification)
• Ability to read EKG strips and manage Tele patients confidently

Unit & Work Environment

• True Tele unit specializing in Neuro and Spine patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5
• Charge nurse present (does not take patients)
• Nurse aides (PCT) available at a ratio of 1 to 1.5 depending on census
• EMR system: Cerner
• Respiratory Therapist available 24/7
• IV & PICC team available during daytime hours
• Pharmacy services available 24/7
• Hospitalist or Intensivist on site

Schedule & Orientation

• Shifts available: 8-hour or 12-hour shifts (check current posting for details)
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday coverage integrated into permanent staff rotation
• Night shift requires 2 years of Tele experience; day shift requires 2 years experience as well
• Floating required between Tele and MedSurg units; travelers have a "home base" unit
• Floor-specific orientation: 1 shift on each unit

• Scrub color: Navy
• No ventilator patients on this unit
• Common patient diagnoses: Telemetry, Neuro, Spine
• Night shift hours: 7pm–7am, every other weekend first to float
