Job Opportunity: Med/Surg RN (Tele/Med Surg 7W-7E-5E)

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Unit: 7 West / 7 East / 5 East
Level of Care: Medical Surgical with Telemetry
Patient Population: Primarily adults (60 beds), minimal pediatrics (1-5 per year)
Shift: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Schedule: Every other weekend
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Requirements

Specialty: Medical Surgical with Telemetry
Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum 1 year Med/Surg experience
Certifications:
- BLS (required)
- ACLS (required)
Prior Travel Experience: Not required
Other Qualifications:
- Good attitude, positive mindset, team player
- Ability to work with diverse populations, including African American and Korean-speaking patients
- Must pass a pass/fail open book exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
- Must comply with fingernail policy (no artificial nails)
- Valid driver’s license required to verify distance from facility (must be outside 50 miles radius)
- Cannot be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and Dignity)

Common Diagnoses: Post-surgical care, diabetes, heart failure, hypertension, weakness, cancer
EMR System: Epic
Equipment: Alaris IV pumps
Float Opportunities: Yes, to 6E, acute rehab unit, geriatric psych unit
Dress Code: Navy scrubs

Additional Notes

Orientation includes a pass/fail exam on skills learned; resources provided to ensure success
Candidate must provide proof of COVID vaccination status
