Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Acute Care
Location: Peoria, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours per Day: 12
Hours per Week: 36
Unit Details
- Medical Acute Care Unit with 20 beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratios:
- Day shift: 1:4 or 1:5
- Night shift: 1:5 or 1:6
- Patient care techs (PCTs) available 24/7 with ratios:
- Day: 1:6 or 1:7
- Night: 1:10
- Telemetry monitors used (Phillips brand); monitor techs read strips, bedside RNs do not
- No ventilators on unit
- Charge nurse present 24/7; ideally no patient assignment but may take one if short staffed
- House supervisor available 24/7
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday requirement: 3 out of 6 holidays annually
- Call or standby depends on hospital staffing needs
- Floating: Travel RNs float first; otherwise rotation based on last who floated
- No scrub color preference; scrubs not provided
- Unit-specific orientation: 3 days
- Preference for candidates with general medical or surgical experience
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license or proof that application process has started
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- General medical nursing experience required
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Must comply with drug-free campus policy and produce a negative drug screen for all panels
Additional Notes
- Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius
- Orientation hours (12 hours) are non-billable and guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation
- Call-off policy allows up to 12 hours off every 13 weeks without penalty or pay obligation
