- Location: Omaha, Nebraska
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour days
- Hours per week: 48
Required Qualifications
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
- NIHSS
- TNCC
- Recent Level I or Level II trauma experience
- Driver’s license required at submittal
- Must not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity
Preferred Qualifications
- NRP
Unit / Setting
- Department: ER
- Level I Trauma Center
- Pediatric Certified by State
- Comprehensive Stroke Center
- 20 beds, including 5 Trauma beds, 10 OBS beds, and hallway beds
- Fast Track: 6 beds
- Separate triage area: 3 triage beds
Clinical Details
- Common patient types include trauma, sepsis, chest pain, SOB, and strokes-TPA
- Common drips are those seen in Level I trauma ERs
- RNs must read and interpret their own strips
- Charge nurse on each shift
- ED physicians and mid-levels are staffed
- Nurse aids/EMT/Paramedics/Patient Sitters are present each shift
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
Scheduling / Float
- Shifts available: 0700-1900, 0900-2100, 1100-2300, 1500-0300, 1900-0700
- Schedule is made by leadership
- Weekend and holiday requirements vary based on department needs
- Floats to OBS unit and Freestanding ER at least once a week
- Orientation includes 1 week of onboarding, 2 shifts at Bergan, and 1 shift at UC

- Fast paced, high acuity
- RNs must pass an open-book exam during orientation with a score of 90% or higher

Pros
I worked 4South/ the people are amazing and flexible, helpful, and supportive to work with. The charges are incredibly helpful.
Cons
Poor communication between residents/ attendings l which affects what is told to nursing and communicated to nursing. This was a huge issue working here. Also the resources are low, things always out of stock on the floor, only one translator / bladder scanner per floor , things like that.
