Overview

Travel contract in Silverdale, Washington
Unit: Birthing Center / Mother Baby – L&D
13-week contract
Days, 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

Active BLS
NRP
WA License; pending license needed to submit
2 full years of experience
LDRP experience
Must be comfortable attending deliveries independently and circulating in C-sections
Must be comfortable assisting with catching baby and transitioning baby
Must be able to function in Postpartum with routine mom and baby competencies
Must be able to transition babies and attend low risk deliveries

Preferred Qualifications

Intermediate or advanced FHM

Unit Details

13 L&D beds
2 OR suites for C-sections
2 triage beds
14 postpartum beds
Average volume: 170–190 births per month
Common patient types include 32 weeks and above, high risk, preeclampsia, diabetic, psych/social issues, and positive substance use
Ratios: 1:2 L&D and 1:3–4 couplets
RNs are required to titrate drips
Common drips: Magnesium, Pitocin, Insulin
Free charge nurse on both shifts
One surgical tech 24/7
Patient care assistant with clerical duties on each shift
24/7 in-house OBGYN/hospitalist
24/7 NNP in the nursery
OB anesthesia provider 24/7
RT typically assigned to family birth
Tele/monitor techs are present for PACU after C-section
EFM system: Centricity-perinatal

Scheduling and Logistics

Block scheduling available when requested in the contract
Every other weekend required
Holidays rotate with permanent staff
Standby response time: 45 minutes
No floating outside the department
No floating to NICU
Scrubs provided
Locker provided
Unit orientation includes an 8-hour compliance day, 8-hour EPIC class, and 2–3 twelve-hour shifts of unit-specific orientation

Additional Notes

No first-time travelers
Surgical hand scrub policy includes no artificial nails or nail enhancements, natural fingernails only, and no open lesions or breaks in skin integrity
