Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Days)
Location: Vail, Colorado
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (3 shifts of 12 hours each)
Guaranteed Hours: 32 hours per week
Start Date: May preferred
Job Summary
Assist during surgical procedures by maintaining the integrity of a sterile surgical field and providing instrumentation support to the surgical team. Participate in unit activities to ensure high-quality patient care. Work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
Essential Job Functions
- Expertise in sterile and aseptic techniques, human anatomy, surgical procedures, and use of surgical tools and technologies.
- Maintain and check sterile packaging, processing, moisture, seal integrity, sterile indicators, and expiration dates.
- Ensure operating room safety and proper equipment function to maximize patient safety.
- Monitor sterile field for contamination and initiate corrective actions as needed under supervision.
- Competency or working towards competency with Tier 1 surgical cases.
- Flexibility in delivering individualized care within scope of practice.
- Effective communication with perioperative team, including participation in Time Out Process (Briefings and Debriefings).
- Assist with patient transports, room turnovers, and room preparation.
- Maintain professional behavior and stay current with new technologies, procedures, instrumentation, and equipment.
- Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization.
- Model principles of a Just Culture.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must be HIPAA compliant.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Certified Surgical Technologist license in Colorado
- Certified Surgical Technologist with at least 2 years of experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Physical Demands
- Sit: 5% of the workday
- Stand: 50%
- Walk: 20%
- Squat, Bend, Twist: 5% each
- Lift: 10% (frequent lifting up to 10 lbs; occasional lifting up to 35-50 lbs)
- No kneeling, running, climbing, crawling, driving, or reaching above shoulder required.

- Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines independently or as part of a team.
- Must be punctual and reliable to start shifts on time.
- This position involves direct patient care.
