Job Opportunity: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) - Nights
Location: State College, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Responsible for nursing care of childbearing women (adolescents to middle adulthood), neonates, and families.
- Develops and implements individualized plans of care based on assessments.
- Supports patients and families through education, stabilization, and ongoing care.
- Collaborates with healthcare team to promote optimal health outcomes.
- Provides support during transition from Meditech to Epic electronic health record system (Epic experience required).
Required Qualifications
Education
- Completion of an accredited Registered Nurse program.
Licensure & Certifications
- Current Pennsylvania RN license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (renewed every 2 years).
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (renewed every 2 years).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (renewed every 2 years).
Experience
- Nursing experience in Labor & Delivery (L&D) specialty.
- Epic electronic health record experience required to support staff during system transition.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to function effectively as a team member and liaison between patients and staff.
- Demonstrates tact, sensitivity, sound judgment, and professionalism when interacting with patients, families, and coworkers.
- High level of mental and emotional tolerance and even temperament when caring for ill patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patient and family developmental levels, health status, and learning needs.
- Perform initial assessment and stabilization of neonates.
- Develop and implement individualized plans of care.
- Teach self-care and newborn care to patients and families.
- Support family functioning and promote understanding of family health dynamics.
- Identify and intervene with vulnerable or at-risk patients and families.
- Collaborate with other healthcare disciplines for treatment and referrals.
- Promote a safe environment for reproduction, growth, development, and recovery.
- Maintain current knowledge, skills, and competency in women’s and infant care.
Supervision
- Minimal supervision from Director, Women & Children’s Services.
Prior Travel Experience
- Not specified / not required.
This position is ideal for experienced Labor & Delivery RNs with strong clinical skills and Epic experience who are interested in a 13-week contract in Pennsylvania.
