Physical Therapist (Rehabilitation Therapy) - Contract

Location: Kealakekua, Hawaii
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Inpatient acute physical therapy position.
Work schedule: 36-40 hours per week with flexibility.
Split schedule between two facilities, typically 3 days/week at one facility and 2 days/week at the other (or vice versa).
Traveler will not be required to cover both facilities in the same day.
Schedule may include one weekend day within a 5-day workweek.
Guaranteed 40 hours per week if full 8-hour shifts are worked.
Shift: Dayshift with some weekends.

Required Qualifications

Valid Physical Therapist license in Hawaii.
Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Rehabilitation Therapy.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Pros

The staff are very friendly. Very much a cooperative spirit throughout the hospital. Lots of travelers here.There is a dedicated Facebook page, KCH Travelers, to help you find transportation and lodging nearby.

Cons

Minimal public transport--not really feasible for hospital shift hours. KCH is somewhat remote...At least a 10 mile drive from the main part of Kona to the hospital. Ten miles might not sound like a lot, but the road is mostly one lane in either direction and can get very congested in points. I'm staying in a 2-room efficiency apartment which is, in my view, sadly lacking amenities that I have had to purchase and I will leave behind for the next person.
