Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel Position

Location: Watonga, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Health Services - Travel

Job Description

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care including executing provider orders, medication administration, and assisting in patient examinations and treatments.
  • Apply nursing and supervisory techniques in the care and treatment of inmates/residents.
  • Attend sick calls with physicians, prepare inmates/residents for examination, and manage medication dispensing and documentation.
  • Assess new or ill/injured inmates/residents and refer to emergency or appropriate healthcare facilities as needed.
  • Perform emergency procedures and coordinate with providers for treatment orders.
  • Supervise licensed vocational/practical nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff.
  • Monitor inpatient hospitalizations and facilitate early releases when appropriate.
  • Maintain security and confidentiality of medical records.
  • Assist with medical file reviews, pharmacy audits, and compliance with pharmacy laws.
  • Observe and document inmate/resident behavior and inspect medical units for contraband.
  • Provide health counseling and education individually or in groups.
  • Assist with preparation and maintenance of medical and operational records and reports.
  • Participate in accreditation processes (NCCHC/ACA/JCAHO) by ensuring efficient and appropriate medical services.
  • Escort and coordinate movement of inmates/residents for medical treatment.
  • Conduct searches for contraband and perform security checks in confined areas, including working rotating shifts.
  • Take action to prevent or manage disruptive situations and perform rescue functions during emergencies, including basic emergency medical aid and evacuation.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program with a degree or diploma in nursing.
  • Current nursing licensure in Oklahoma.
  • Minimum Specialty Experience: 1 year of professional nursing experience preferred.
