Sterile Processing Technician

Location: Long Beach, California
Employment Type: Non-Clinical
Shift: 3rd shift (10:00 PM – 6:30 AM)
Hours: 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Responsible for the decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring safety, quality, and infection control standards are met.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow ANSI/AAMI standards, manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs), SOPs, and company Work Instructions.
• Decontaminate, disassemble, clean, and reassemble surgical instruments.
• Assemble and package instrument trays and sets accurately.
• Operate washers, sterilizers, autoclaves, and related processing equipment safely.
• Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage before packaging.
• Document missing or damaged instruments per SOPs.
• Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, instrument tracking, and inventory.
• Handle instruments and customer-owned items carefully to prevent damage.
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of sterilization equipment.
• Keep workstations and decontamination areas clean and organized.
• Communicate effectively with team members and operations personnel.
• Participate in ongoing training to maintain certifications and competencies.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician, with experience within the last year.
• Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST or CIS).
