Clinical Lab Technologist - Minnesota, Rochester

Job Summary

• Perform analyses on blood, tissue, and body fluids to assist healthcare providers in diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment.
• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments, troubleshoot assays, and evaluate test accuracy.
• Participate in operational support activities to optimize testing capabilities.
• Work with multiple computer systems to retrieve information and report results.
• May assist with specimen collection and work with minimal supervision.
• Strict adherence to safety protocols when handling infectious specimens, chemicals, and other hazards.

Work Schedule

• Regular shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
• Training shift (approximately 1 month): 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
• Must be able to accommodate scheduling adjustments including off-shifts, holidays, on-call, and weekend assignments.

Required Education

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a biological science.

Required Qualifications

• Medical Lab Technician experience within the last year (minimum 1 year).
• Medical Technologist experience.
• Proficient in operation and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and assay systems, including troubleshooting assays.
• Ability to produce accurate results under time constraints in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Strong multitasking and communication skills; able to work closely with others.

Position Details

• Work in Central Processing Lab performing pre-analytic specimen processing.
• Operate various laboratory and office equipment.
• Enter information and test orders into laboratory computer systems.
• Respond to high volume of inquiries regarding laboratory testing.
• Ensure correct patient identification on specimens and resolve pre-analytic specimen-related issues.
• Provide training to others and support the Department of Lab Medicine and Pathology team.

Contract Length

• Approximately 52 weeks (1 year).

Hours

• 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day.
