Travel Allied Health Professional - Mammography Technologist

A Mammography Technician (Mammo Tech) is a specialized radiologic technologist who operates mammography equipment to perform diagnostic imaging procedures for detecting breast abnormalities. These images, known as mammograms, help to screen for breast cancer and other breast-related conditions. Mammography Technicians are trained to perform the procedure, ensure patient comfort, maintain a high standard of image quality, and assist in patient care throughout the process.

<h3>Key Responsibilities:</h3>
<ol>

Performing Mammograms:
<ul>
<li>Position and prepare patients for mammography exams, ensuring they are comfortable and properly positioned.</li>
<li>Operate mammography equipment to capture clear, accurate images of the breast tissue.</li>
<li>Ensure proper compression of the breast during imaging to obtain the best possible images while minimizing discomfort for the patient.</li>
<li>Assist patients with undressing and putting on a gown, as well as positioning the breast for imaging.</li>
<li>Perform digital mammograms and, if necessary, additional views to obtain complete images of the breast.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>
Patient Care and Comfort:
<ul>
<li>Greet patients and explain the procedure, answering any questions to alleviate anxiety.</li>
<li>Educate patients on the importance of mammograms, helping them understand the process and ensuring they know what to expect.</li>
<li>Reassure patients during the exam, maintaining a calm and empathetic demeanor.</li>
<li>Monitor patients for discomfort or any issues during the procedure and adjust accordingly.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>
Quality Control and Image Evaluation:
<ul>
<li>Review mammograms for clarity and completeness, ensuring the images meet diagnostic standards.</li>
<li>Ensure that images are free from artifacts or distortions that could hinder diagnosis.</li>
<li>Work closely with radiologists to ensure that high-quality images are produced and evaluate whether additional views or retakes are necessary.</li>
<li>Assist in conducting breast ultrasound or stereotactic biopsy procedures if needed to further investigate abnormalities found in mammograms.</li>

Equipment Maintenance and Safety:
<ul>
<li>Ensure proper operation of mammography equipment, troubleshooting any technical issues as needed.</li>
<li>Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of the equipment, following safety protocols and manufacturer guidelines.</li>
<li>Follow safety standards for radiation protection to minimize patient and staff exposure.</li>
<li>Ensure the machine is calibrated and functioning correctly to provide optimal images.</li>

Record Keeping and Documentation:
<ul>
<li>Maintain patient records, including medical history, previous mammogram results, and details of the current exam.</li>
<li>Document relevant patient information, such as imaging results, positioning, and any special instructions or requests from the physician.</li>
<li>Ensure all procedures, patient information, and images are properly logged into the hospital’s Electronic Health Records (EHR) system.</li>

Collaboration with Medical Team:
<ul>
<li>Communicate effectively with radiologists and physicians regarding images that may require further attention or additional imaging.</li>
<li>Assist in explaining test results to patients, helping them understand what comes next in the process if further evaluation or follow-up is needed.</li>
<li>Work closely with the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care for the patient, especially if abnormal results are found.</li>

Adherence to Safety and Regulatory Standards:
