Job Opportunity: Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) / Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Location: Claremont, New Hampshire
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide continuous observation of residents, noting changes in mental and physical well-being and communicating with supervisors and physicians as needed.
- Receive and carry out physician’s orders accurately, including medication administration and treatments, with proper electronic documentation.
- Supervise Licensed Nursing Assistants (LNAs) according to New Hampshire Board of Nursing regulations.
- Assign and oversee nursing staff resident care consistent with abilities and scope of practice; assist direct-care staff as needed.
- Accompany physicians on resident rounds to address medical needs and facilitate communication during reviews.
- Administer oxygen, gastrostomy/jejunostomy feedings, and perform wound care including knowledge of wound vacs.
- Manage unit duties such as checking appointments, monitoring documentation, infection control, and maintaining a clean, hazard-free environment.
- Admit, discharge, and transfer residents with appropriate documentation and notifications.
- Complete 24-hour reports, monitor new orders, and maintain communication with Nurse Manager/Nursing Supervisor regarding resident and staff issues.
- Communicate with residents’ families to resolve concerns and obtain consents when necessary.
- Manage assigned unit(s) during shifts under direction of Nursing Supervisor or Director of Nursing Services.
- Follow state and federal regulations for controlled medication storage, usage, and documentation.
- Assist with orientation and ongoing education of nursing staff; evaluate staff performance and recommend disciplinary actions as necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Specialty: Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) / Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Experience: Minimum 3+ years current experience, with at least some experience within the last 6 months
- Certifications:
- IV Certification (must be willing to obtain during onboarding if not currently certified)
- BLS Certification
- Licensure: Active LVN/LPN license valid in New Hampshire
- Vaccinations: COVID-19 vaccination required (no declinations/exemptions accepted)
- Other Requirements:
- Must be willing to float to different units where experienced
- Prior travel experience highly preferred but not required
- Rural or small facility experience highly preferred
- Must have own transportation due to rural location and limited public transit
- Locals residing within 50 miles of the facility will not be accepted
Additional Information
- Dress code: Scrubs (matching top and bottoms)
- Overtime: Starts after 40 hours (or 48 hours depending on schedule) at 1.25x pay
- Callbacks: Minimum 2 hours at 1.25x pay
- Orientation: No paid orientation hours
- Cancellation policy: Up to 3 shifts may be canceled per 13-week contract
- Flu vaccine: Annual seasonal flu vaccine required or declination with mask-wearing during flu season
- Timecard process: Clock in/out at facility; electronic submission only
