Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) / Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Long Term Care (Nights)
Location: Claremont, New Hampshire
Employment Type: Temporary
Shift: Nights
Hours per Day: 16
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide nursing care in a rural long-term care setting, observing residents continuously for changes in mental and physical well-being.
- Administer medications, treatments, oxygen, gastrostomy/jejunostomy feedings, and perform wound care including wound vac management.
- Supervise Licensed Nursing Assistants (LNAs) and assign nursing staff resident care consistent with scope of practice.
- Accompany physicians on resident rounds and assist with 60-day reviews.
- Manage admissions, discharges, and transfers with proper documentation.
- Maintain infection control practices and ensure unit cleanliness and safety.
- Communicate with residents’ families regarding care concerns and obtain consents as needed.
- Manage assigned unit during shift under direction of Nursing Supervisor or Director of Nursing.
- Follow state and federal regulations for controlled medications, including shift change counts.
- Assist with orientation, education, and evaluation of nursing staff; recommend disciplinary actions as necessary.
- Attend mandatory and assigned educational meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Active LVN/LPN license in good standing.
- Minimum 3 years of current nursing experience within the last 6 months.
- IV certification required; must be willing to obtain during onboarding if not already certified.
- Willingness to float to other units where experienced.
- COVID-19 vaccination required; no declinations or exemptions accepted. Proof of vaccination must be provided.
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates within 50 miles will not be accepted.
- Prior travel experience is highly preferred but not required.
- Experience in rural or small facility settings is highly preferred.
Additional Requirements & Information
- Candidates must have their own transportation due to the rural location and limited public transit/housing options.
- Resume, skills checklist (within the last year), 2 supervisory references from the last 2 years, active certifications, and license must be submitted at time of application.
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at initial presentation and cannot exceed 5 days; holidays are not approved.
- Dress code: Matching scrubs (top and bottoms).
- Orientation hours: 0 hours (no paid orientation).
- Timekeeping: Clock in/out at the facility; no paper timecards signed by managers.
- Cancellation policy: Employer reserves the right to cancel up to 3 shifts per 13-week contract.
- Flu vaccine: Annual seasonal flu vaccine or declination accepted; decliners must wear a mask during flu season.

- The facility provides 24-hour nursing care for residents requiring long-term and skilled nursing care.
- Emphasis on preventive and restorative care addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, and psychological needs.
- Collaborative care planning involving residents and their families or legal representatives to ensure a home-like environment.
- Medicaid licensed Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) and Medicare approved Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF).
Overtime & Callbacks
- Overtime pay starts after 40 hours for 36/40 hour contracts; after 48 hours for 48/60 hour contracts.
- Callback pay applies with a minimum of 2 hours per callback service.
