Job Description
- Schedule: Friday through Sunday blocked shifts
- Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
- Unit Type: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Patient Acuity: Intermediate level monitoring (interventions no more frequent than 1 hour), medical-surgical patients
- Common Diagnoses: Dysrhythmias, CHF, acute onset stroke (non-TPA), Acute Coronary Syndrome, Myocardial Ischemia
- Environment: Fast-paced with focus on patient throughput and patient-centered care
- Telemetry: All patients on hardwire telemetry, self-monitored by RN
- Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Census: 12 beds
- Electronic Systems: Epic, Pyxis
- Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice as needed
- Holidays: Required to work major holidays if they fall during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years as a Registered Nurse (1st time travelers accepted)
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- Licensure: Valid Registered Nurse license for the state of Georgia
- Competencies:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (required by agency)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (3 attempts allowed; failure on 3rd attempt results in cancellation)
- Color Blind Testing (must pass or alternative assessment)
- Nursing skills checklist within last 12 months
- Background Checks: Must be completed and cleared prior to start, including education verification
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 12 months
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (with additional requirements if prior positive)
- Required immunizations or titers: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B (or signed declination), Flu vaccine or declination
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
- TB questionnaire updated annually
- References: Two clinical references required
- Work History Verification: Verification of most recent employer required (can be pending at start with proof of processing)
