Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse

Location: Prestonsburg, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Minimum 2+ years of current ICU experience required.
• Patient ratio typically 1:2; uses Meditech EMR system.
• Must be able to float within scope of practice.
• Every other weekend shift required.
• Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated.
• Schedule generally follows a 36/48 hour pattern over two weeks.
• Orientation occurs bi-weekly.
• Candidates must reside within 75 miles of the facility.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Kentucky.
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with ICU experience within the last year.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Additional Requirements

• Valid government-issued photo ID.
• Background checks including national and county searches, and various federal databases.
• Drug testing per specified panel within 30 days of start.
• Annual physical exam or physician statement confirming ability to work without restrictions.
• Immunizations and health documentation including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (valid within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test (QuantiFERON blood test within 1 year)
  • Proof of MMR vaccinations or positive titers (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella vaccinations or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
• Competency exams including medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG (except Psych, OR, Rehab, Med Surg), and core competency parts I-III.
• References: Two professional references within 1 year of start date (one must be a supervisor).
• Work history verification covering 7 years.
• Completion of skills checklist annually.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Scheduling & Other Notes

• Floating within the scope of practice is required.
• Every other weekend coverage is mandatory.
• Blocked scheduling is not available.
• Candidates must confirm assignment acceptance within 24 hours.
