Job Opportunity: Pediatric Cath Lab Registered Nurse

Location: San Francisco, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • 12-hour day/evening shifts
  • Work in Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization/Electrophysiology Lab
  • Experience with pediatric/congenital heart patients required
  • Pre- and post-procedure care experience required
  • Ability to float to other facilities within the system

Required Qualifications

  • California Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (AHA)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA)
  • Experience in Pediatric Cath/EP Lab
  • Pediatric/congenital heart experience
  • Ability to float to other facilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) or Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

Required Certifications & Competencies

  • Pass/Fail Telemetry Exam (required for all RNs in specified units)
  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (passing score 80%+)
  • Unit-specific Competency Exam (passing score 80%+)
  • Core Clinical Competency Parts I, II, and III (passing score 80%+)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including physician statement of fitness to work
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask types required)
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years, no declinations accepted)
    • Negative TB tests (2 required, with specific timing and documentation)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (IGG titer or 2 vaccines required)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella (IGG titer or 2 vaccines required)
  • Drug testing: Standard 9-panel (excluding THC), within 30 days of start, re-run every 2 years
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination (required during flu season)
  • COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption as per facility policy

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check including specific counties and nationwide checks
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • Education verification or copy of diploma/transcript
  • Sex offender search as required
  • Primary source license verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start
  • Completion of facility-specific learning modules prior to or shortly after start
  • Annual TB questionnaire and other health screening forms as required
  • Cyber Security Awareness Training and HIPAA training modules (with passing scores)

Additional Requirements

  • Current and valid government-issued photo ID matching professional license
  • Two supervisory references from recent employment (charge nurses acceptable)
  • Updated resume with last 7 years of work history; gaps of 30+ days must be explained
  • Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually
  • Ability to complete all required documentation and training prior to start

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
  • Floating to other facilities within the system is expected.
  • Telemetry (Tele) refers to Telemetry units only.
