Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - ICU/PCU Float

Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Description

  • Float position primarily on PCU (Progressive Care Unit) with assignments to ICU or other PCU units as needed.
  • Requires 2 years of recent ICU experience.
  • Must have 1 year of Level 1 trauma experience in a high acuity PCU setting.
  • Experience in PCU, Med/Surg, and Telemetry required.
  • Critical thinking skills essential; ability to manage patients who may require rapid response.
  • Orientation provided for other transitional units.
  • Contract hours available: 36 or 48 hours per week.
  • No first-time travelers accepted.
  • Local travelers within 100 miles are not accepted.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
  • ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience: minimum 2 years, including experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication)
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing
  • State License 1 Verification
  • NURSYS Verification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
  • PCU (Progressive Care Unit) experience
  • Med/Surg experience
  • Telemetry experience

Additional Information

  • Must be able to pass facility-specific EKG exam with a minimum score of 80%.
  • Pass/fail testing attempts limited to two; failure results in cancellation.
  • Must complete all required documentation and certifications prior to start.
  • Orientation and training provided for floating to various units.
  • No local candidates within 100 miles accepted.
  • Prior travel experience is required; no first-time travelers.

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with trauma and PCU background who are comfortable floating between critical care and progressive care units and meet all licensing, certification, and health requirements.
