Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with a strong background in Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing. Experience with transplant, renal, or high-acuity medical patients is preferred.

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Strong Stepdown/PCU background
• Experience with transplant, renal, or high-acuity medical patients preferred

Required Certifications

• Active Ohio RN License
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Skills & Competencies

• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Advanced respiratory support (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC)
• IV insulin protocols and insulin drips
• Cardiac and vasoactive drips including titration
• Central line and PICC management
• Blood product administration
• Renal and liver transplant care
• Post-procedure recovery (kidney biopsy, paracentesis)
• EPIC charting experience
• Familiarity with Pyxis medication system

Work Schedule & Additional Requirements

• Call required
• Float required within the organization
• Coverage every other or every third weekend

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check (including FBI and BCI fingerprinting) required prior to start
• Education accreditation confirmation from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
• Ohio BCI & FBI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start; new fingerprinting required if break in service exceeds 90 days
• Monthly monitoring through workforce compliance systems
• Various facility-specific compliance forms and training required annually, including fraud, waste, and abuse training

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination (adult dose after age 11/12)
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year of start; TB questionnaire required annually
• Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccination or positive titer
• Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination accepted)
• Varicella vaccination or positive titer (medical exemptions require documentation)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending drug screens allowed)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31); mask required if declining
• COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Competency Exams & Training

• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required prior to start
• Unit-specific competency exam required
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (minimum passing score 76%)
• Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement
• Additional certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., NIH Stroke Certification)

References & Documentation

• Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years RN experience
• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by American Heart Association
• Advanced respiratory support (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC)
• Cardiac and vasoactive drips including titration
• Central line and PICC management
• Blood product administration
• Renal transplant care
• Liver transplant care
• Post-procedure recovery experience (kidney biopsy, paracentesis)
