Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Registered Nurse

Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse – Cath Lab
  • Shift: Four 10-hour shifts per week (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
  • Patient Ratio: 1:1
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes, one weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) per month on call
  • On-Call Requirement: Yes, one weekday call shift per week
  • Floating: No floating between service lines or sister facilities

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience, including experience within the last year
  • Electrophysiology (EP) Lab experience
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience in both EP and Cath Lab settings

Additional Requirements

  • Must provide proof of 2 clinical references (at least one from the same unit)
  • Background check within 90 days of start, including multiple state and national searches
  • Education verification required; diploma or transcripts preferred as placeholder if needed
  • Annual medical clearance including physical exam and respirator clearance
  • Drug screening (10-panel) within 90 days of start
  • Immunizations and health documentation required:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination
    • Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series or declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption (during flu season)
  • COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
  • Facility-specific orientation modules and first day instructions must be completed prior to start
  • Clear, passport-style photo required for badge issuance

Work Environment

  • Acute care hospital setting with 304 staffed beds
  • Charting system: Epic
  • Scrubs: Hospital-issued Cath Lab scrubs
  • Parking: Available at no cost with a parking pass

Important Notes

  • Call-off policy allows facility to cancel one shift every two weeks
  • Block scheduling may be accommodated with manager approval
  • Local radius rule: 60 miles
  • Locals may be accepted on a case-by-case basis
  • Hurricane season (June-November) may require emergency response team participation; avoid new or extended assignments during peak months if this is a concern
