Medical Surgical Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Athens, Georgia
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Patient Population: Adolescents to Geriatrics
  • Unit Type: Medical Surgical Overflow
  • Patient Types: Total Hip Arthroplasty, Total Knee Arthroplasty, Total Shoulder Arthroplasty, Trauma Patients
  • Unit Size: 27 beds, average daily census of 24
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
  • Electronic Systems: Epic, Pyxis, SBAR
  • Uniform: Navy Blue scrub color
  • Floating: Yes, within the facility
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Work: Required to work major holidays during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
  • Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Additional Information

  • Orientation: Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8 weeks)
  • Compliance: Full compliance with all requirements is mandatory to start on time; delays in compliance may result in assignment pushback
  • Locals Accepted: Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Facility Policies: Candidates must review and sign facility-specific Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start

This position offers an opportunity to work in a busy medical surgical unit with a diverse patient population and requires flexibility for floating within the facility and working major holidays.
