Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - CVICU

Location: Knoxville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36

Job Details

• Float required
• Work schedule includes 2 weekends per month or every other weekend
• Patient ratios: 1:1 in CVICU; 1:2-3 in ICU
• No time off allowed during specified holidays (including Valentine's Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day, and local breaks). Holiday time off requests may be addressed onsite after arrival.

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted; must be current and not expiring within 45 days of assignment start
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted; must be current and not expiring within 45 days of assignment start
• NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification) - actual downloaded certification required; must be current and not expiring within 45 days of assignment start

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
• Minimum 1 year of CVICU experience, with recent CVICU experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Current ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Current NIHSS certification

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, signed by MD, DO, NP, APRN, or PA confirming fitness for duty
• Negative TB test (QGold or Skin Test) within 1 year; T-spots not accepted; if past positive, clear chest x-ray within 10 years plus questionnaire required
• TB Questionnaire completed
• Immunizations/vaccinations required with documentation:

  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination required for certain start dates
  • Hepatitis B: vaccine series of 3, titer, or declination
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination required for certain start dates
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccine required for starts on or after 9/8/2025; exemptions only for approved medical or religious reasons (declinations not accepted)
• Drug testing within 45 days of start, including a comprehensive panel (amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana, opiates, etc.); MRO signature required

Additional Requirements

• Valid driver's license or state ID (color copy, current)
• Background check completed within 45 days of start, including 7 years of history and multiple specific searches (SSN trace, sex offender registry, criminal, abuse registry, etc.)
• Photo for badge: passport style, solid background, no filters or facial piercings
• Onboarding attestation and review of onboarding documents required
• Skills checklist for unit-specific competencies within the last year, updated annually
• Utility bill, mortgage statement, or lease in candidate’s name with address at least 75 miles from contracted facility

Work Environment

• Night shift in Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• Patient care ratios support intensive monitoring and care
• Float assignments expected

This position is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable with critical care in a CVICU setting, able to work night shifts, and meet comprehensive credentialing and health requirements.
