Case Manager (Registered Nurse) - Travel/Contract

Location: Portland, Oregon
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Position floats between units based on needs.
• Weekend work required every other weekend.
• Block schedules required.
• Patient ratio approximately 24:1.
• Must have recent acute care experience in hospital care management/discharge planning (behavioral experience does not count).
• Minimum 3 years inpatient care management experience required.
• Variable schedule to support vacation and PTO utilization.
• No on-call required.
• Vehicle required for assignment.
• Facility type: Short Term Acute Care with 418 staffed beds.
• Charting system: Epic.
• Parking: No fee.
• Scrub color: Any color except OR/L&D (provided).

Shift Details

• Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM).
• 40 hours per week.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum 3 years of acute care case management experience in an inpatient setting, with at least some experience within the last year.
• Experience as a Care Manager in acute care settings.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 3 years inpatient acute care hospital care management/discharge planning experience.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.

Floating and Travel Notes

• Floating to other units and facilities within reasonable distance is expected.
• Floating to certain locations may include additional incentives and accommodations.

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually.
• Education verification required for nursing degree.
• Drug screen (9 panel) within 12 months of start.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • TDAP (within 10 years or declination)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (updated annually)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer/declination
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer/declination
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
  • COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations accepted)
• Respirator medical clearance required annually for travel candidates.

Training and Competency Requirements

• Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp).
• Epic training modules required prior to or shortly after start.
• Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable.
• Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units.

Additional Notes

• Must comply with facility-specific floating policies.
• Badge photo required for identification.
• No 48-hour shifts approved.
• No on-call duties.
