Registered Nurse – ER (Night Shift) – Travel/Contract

Location: Clearfield, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36

Job Description

• Every Other Week (EOW) schedule required
• Cerner experience required
• 1 year of nursing experience required

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Preferred Certifications (Not mandatory)

• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
• NIH Stroke Certification (must be renewed annually)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
• Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE)
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)

Required Licensure & Verification

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Pennsylvania
• Primary source online license verification required
• NURSYS verification required for RN license

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• 7-year criminal background check including SS trace, county searches for all locations lived/worked/schooled, nationwide, sex offender, and Pennsylvania statewide (Patch Certificate)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
• Pennsylvania Child Abuse (Childline) search within 1 year of start
• Pennsylvania FBI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start (must be completed in PA)
• Education verification (transcripts, diplomas, or third-party verifications)
• Two professional references within the last 3 years
• Annual skills checklist

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Negative TB test (PPD, Q Gold, or TSpot) within 6 months or chest X-ray within 5 years
• Required vaccinations or positive titers (or facility-specific declination forms) for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella (Chicken Pox)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within past 10 years)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination (mask required if declined during flu season Nov-April)
• COVID vaccination or facility-specific declination
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Alcohol breathalyzer test within 30 days of start (not required for this location)

Competency Requirements

• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• General competency exam as applicable

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Passport-style photo for badge (no filters)
• Completion of facility orientation packet and acknowledgements prior to start
• Completion of bloodborne pathogen quiz prior to start
• Completion of medical surveillance checklist prior to start
• Completion of vaccine declination forms if applicable

Additional Notes

• Comprehensive Crisis Management certification (MAB or CPI) required for Emergency Department, Behavioral Health, and Acute Care units; annual renewal required
• Online training for crisis management certifications accepted (e.g., Relias Academy, nurse.com)
• No onsite classes available for MAB, CPI, or CCM certifications

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania
• Minimum of 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience within the last year
• Current ACLS certification
• Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Current PALS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification
• Comprehensive Crisis Management certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with Cerner electronic health record system
