Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum

Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:45–7:15)
Hours per Week: 36 hours


Job Description

  • Float between Labor & Delivery (L&D) and Postpartum (PP) units in a true LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) role.
  • Must be able to start on either June 10 or June 24; no other start dates considered.
  • Assigned to a maternity float pool, working both L&D and PP.
  • Orientation includes two pass/fail exams: medication exam and telemetry exam. Only one attempt allowed per exam; failure results in immediate contract cancellation.
  • Study materials will be provided prior to orientation.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery & Postpartum).
  • At least 2 years of travel or contract nursing experience.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • AWHONN (Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses)
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system.

Work Schedule & Requirements

  • 36 hours per week, night shift (3x12-hour shifts).
  • Every other weekend and holiday required.
  • Up to 5 days or less of Return to Office (RTO).
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID.
  • Massachusetts Statewide iCORI (criminal background) clearance within 30 days prior to start.
  • 7-year criminal background check including SSN trace, county searches, national criminal search, and OIG/SAM checks.
  • Education verification of highest completed education (transcript acceptable if education verification is unperformable).
  • NURSYS verification of RN license within 30 days prior to start.
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start, including physician statement of fitness to work without restrictions.
  • Drug testing within 30 days of start (specific drug panels required).
  • Immunizations or valid declinations for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, NICU, Maternity)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (declinations accepted with documentation of 3-dose series or immune titer)
    • Seasonal Flu (required during flu season or valid declination)
    • COVID-19 (most recent vaccine or valid declination)
  • Tuberculosis screening: Two PPD tests or QuantiFERON/T-Spot within 90 days; chest X-ray if positive TB history.
  • TB Questionnaire required for all candidates.
  • References: Two references within three years of start.
  • Employment application documenting 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days.
  • Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be aware that failure to pass the medication or telemetry exams at orientation will result in immediate contract cancellation.
  • Telemetry exam is required for RNs working in units with telemetry monitoring, including L&D.
  • Telemetry exam is not required for OR, Psychiatry, Mother-Baby/Postpartum, and NICU units.
  • Study materials and compliance support will be provided before orientation.
  • Candidates must be willing and able to float between L&D and Postpartum units as part of the maternity float pool.

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with maternity and postpartum care skills who are comfortable working night shifts and passing competency exams under strict conditions.
