Job Description

• Provide nursing care in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) setting.
• Required experience with cardiac cases, including robotic cardiac procedures.
• General Operating Room (OR) experience is necessary.
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM, 3 shifts per week (36 hours/week).
• Standby requirement: 2 weekend shifts (24 hours total) and 5 weekdays on-call per month (call starts after shift ends until the next day).

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
• Minimum of 1 year of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience, including experience within the last year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Cardiac nursing experience, including robotic cardiac procedures.
• Experience in the general Operating Room (OR) setting.

Certifications & Compliance

• BLS (Basic Life Support) required for all clinical positions.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) not required for OR positions.
• Other certifications (PALS, NRP, EFM, NIH Stroke, CPI) are not required for this role.

Facility & Documentation Requirements

• Proof of W4 on file.
• Background checks including 7-year criminal background check with SSN trace, county, state, federal, and national criminal and sex offender searches. International background checks not required.
• HHS/OIG clearance required.
• Primary source verification of California RN license within 30 days of start. Per diem staff must have a California RN license (no EMSA accepted).
• Physical exam within 12 months of start.
• Proof of N95 fit test within 1 year prior to start (specific approved mask models required). Facility does not provide onsite fit testing.
• Tdap vaccine required; declinations not accepted.
• Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) or chest x-ray within 12 months of start; annual updates required if positive history.
• Required immunizations or titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (2 vaccines or titer with boosters if negative/equivocal). Declinations not accepted except for Hepatitis B (vaccination series, titer, or signed declination accepted).
• 9-panel drug test within 1 year of start.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or agency flu declination required year-round. Masks required for unimmunized personnel during flu season.
• COVID-19 vaccination required or approved medical/religious exemption on file.

Facility-Specific Information

• No scrub color requirement; OR scrubs provided by the facility.
• Experience with EPIC or Cerner electronic health records preferred; less than 6 months experience may result in auto-cancellation for RNs.
• Completion of facility-specific learning modules (approx. 8 hours) prior to start is mandatory.
• Completion and signing of facility-specific job description and acknowledgment forms required before starting.
• Pyxis acknowledgment required for RNs prior to start.
• Standards of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreements must be reviewed and signed annually.
• Two satisfactory professional references required.
• Employment application and skills checklist must be completed and on file.

Summary

This is a 13-week travel contract for a Registered Nurse with cardiac and general OR experience to work in a CVOR setting on 12-hour day shifts in San Diego, CA. The role requires current California RN licensure, BLS certification, and compliance with extensive health, background, and facility-specific documentation and immunization requirements. Prior travel experience is not required.
