Job Overview
- 12-hour day/night rotating shifts (may include days, nights, or a combination based on staffing needs; shift assignments reviewed every 4 weeks but not guaranteed to change)
- Patient population primarily includes oncology patients with:
- Continuous cardiac monitoring related to chemotherapy
- Soft tissue malignancies receiving diagnostics, chemotherapy, and symptom management
- Symptom management secondary to disease or treatment progression
- Management of comorbidities
- Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention
- Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients
- Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
- Interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Skills in accessing ports, arterial line management, central line care/management, and PICC line management
- Ability to assist with chest tube insertion/removal
- Experience with high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) and interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)

- B450 monitors with GE telemetry system
- Bladder scanner
- Alaris infusion pumps
- Stryker beds
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including SS trace, counties lived/worked, nationwide check, sex offender registry, and motor vehicle record if driving is required
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start; must be completed under specific code for healthcare workers
- Education verification: Graduate of an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
- Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership role)
Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA instructor/provider or RQI acceptable
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (minimum passing score 76%)
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam required prior to start
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required annually
- State RN license verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification required for RN license
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, NIH Stroke Certification) – check unit-specific requirements
Health Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive; TB questionnaire required annually in lieu of TB test
- Immunizations or titers required:
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola, Mumps, and Rubella
- Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer (medical exemption requires documentation)
- Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (10/1 - 3/31); decliners must wear a mask
- COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended; proof of primary vaccination collected if available
Additional Notes
- Candidates must comply with dress code and hand hygiene policies
- Fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
- Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and acknowledged annually
- Unit-specific competency exams may be required
- Floating to other units of similar or lower acuity is expected
This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized telemetry/oncology setting with a focus on complex patient care and advanced nursing skills. Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Units are nice, staff are kind. Single patient rooms with 4:1 ratios day and night on med surg.
Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
