Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Newton, Kansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift, 2:45 AM – 3:15 PM (3 shifts/week, 12 hours each)
Hours per Week: 36

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with a specialty in Labor and Delivery (L&D) and postpartum care. This is a travel/contract position at an acute care, Level 4 Trauma teaching hospital with 103 staffed beds.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Kansas
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment in Labor and Delivery
• BLS certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• Proficient in NST (Non-Stress Test), OCT (Oxytocin Challenge Test), sterile vaginal exams, and electronic fetal monitoring (EFM)
• Intermediate fetal monitoring certification
• Postpartum nursing experience

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried during hours of service.
• Proof of E-Verify or attestation.
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, county, nationwide, sex offender, and FACIS level 3.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals.
• Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually if applicable.
• Required immunizations or titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
• Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months (instant acceptable).
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required for the flu season (Nov 1 – Mar 31). Masking required if declining vaccine.
• COVID-19 vaccination required or completion of facility-specific medical/religious exemption forms.
• Proof of 2 professional clinical references.
• Employment application showing minimum 1 year of experience.
• Annual competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency testing.
• NURSYS verification for RN license.

Additional Notes

• Must comply with facility-specific COVID-19 exemption forms if applicable.
• TB questionnaire required if history of positive TB test.
• Kansas-specific child abuse and neglect registry results required for home health RNs (if applicable).
