Job Opportunity: Endoscopy Registered Nurse
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Targeted start date: June 1 or June 15
- Work schedule: Monday through Friday, day shifts (options include 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, or 8:30 AM–5:00 PM)
- Approximately 40 hours per week
- Possible requirement to work 1 weekend and some weeknights
- Rotating on-call coverage for nights, weekends, and holidays
- Fast-paced environment with rapid turnover
- Department has 3 procedure rooms, 4 pre-procedure rooms, and 4 post-procedure rooms open daily
- Anesthesia support available for most cases
- May be asked to stay late on a rotating basis to complete daily schedule
- Scrub color: Royal Blue
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Endoscopy nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification
- Experience with Epic electronic health record charting system
Orientation & Onboarding
- Orientation sessions held bi-weekly
- Must set up a facility-specific guest account prior to clearance to access required systems and complete orientation
- Completion of unit-specific competency exams required
- Completion of facility-required online modules prior to orientation
- Competency checklists (CBOs) must be completed within 3 weeks after start date
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license)
- Social Security card (only if used for I9 verification)
- Background checks within 90 days of start, including:
- SSN trace, county, alias, nationwide, sex offender, international (if applicable)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education verification as applicable
- Drug test: Negative 10-panel (including THC) within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years, no exemptions)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (with documentation if history of positive PPD)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination per facility policy (no exemptions)
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (no exemptions)
- Polio vaccine or signed attestation
- Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months (at least one supervisor)
- Employment application with 7 years of work history
- Annual updates required for skills checklist and TB questionnaire
Additional Notes
- This department does not perform advanced endoscopy procedures
- Anesthesia support is provided for the majority of cases
- Candidates may be flagged to stay late on a rotating basis to complete the daily schedule
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card training provided onsite if candidate does not have one
- Color blind testing required only for phlebotomists (not applicable here)
