Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry (Travel/Contract)

Location: Lancaster, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Patient Ratio: 1:6 to 1:7
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
On-Call: No
Floating: Required to float within scope to like units with similar patients

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• Must have Med/Surg experience
• Telemetry experience preferred, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Attendance at staff meetings is required
• Must complete all assigned orientation modules prior to start date

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Carolina
• Telemetry experience of at least 2 years, including experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Facility & Work Environment

• Short-term acute care hospital with 97 staffed beds
• Charting system: Epic
• Scrub color: Royal Blue
• Free parking available
• Local radius for commute: 60 miles
• Locals considered (at a reduced rate)
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Call-out policy: After 2 call-outs without documented medical reason, contract may be canceled
• Hurricane season (June–November) may require emergency response team participation

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Copy of Driver’s License and Social Security Card required
• Annual background check covering last 7 years of residence/employment
• Employment application and proof of 2 clinical references required
• Work history verification not required for this facility
• Nursys license verification required
• Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or chest x-ray if positive history
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (boosters if low titer)
  • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination form
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (boosters if low titer)
  • Seasonal Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31)
  • COVID vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
• 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
• Radiation badge not required for this position

Orientation & Onboarding

• Must complete all orientation modules (approx. 2 hours) before starting
• Modules and first day instructions will be provided after clearance
• Clear, passport-style photo required for badge
• Must sign various facility agreements including:

  • Assignment Acknowledgment
  • Code of Conduct
  • Employee Confidentiality Agreement
  • HIPAA Confidentiality Agreement
  • Systems User Agreement
  • Commitment Statement
  • Orientation Acknowledgement
  • Dress Code acknowledgment
• Parking permit request must be completed prior to start

Additional Notes

• Approval for block scheduling can be requested but is not guaranteed
• Floating may be required to similar units within the facility or sister facilities
• Facility uses Epic for charting
• Facility expects completion of all assigned modules before orientation; failure to complete will result in being sent home
• Flu vaccine documentation deadline is December 5th during flu season; failure to comply may result in leave without pay

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs with prior travel experience who are licensed in South Carolina and meet the certification and compliance requirements.
