PCU Travel Nurse

Location

  • Augusta, Georgia

Contract

  • 12 weeks
  • Travel/contract assignment
  • Night shift: 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Weekend block: Friday, Saturday, Sunday
  • Every other weekend expected unless otherwise specified

Unit Overview

  • Adult to geriatric patient population
  • 12-bed unit
  • 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
  • Fast-paced environment focused on patient throughput and patient-centered care
  • Patients include intermediate-level and medical-surgical cases
  • Common diagnoses include dysrhythmias, CHF, acute onset stroke or stroke symptoms not requiring TPA or critical care, and acute coronary syndrome/myocardial ischemia
  • All patients are on hardwire telemetry and self-monitored by the RN

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Georgia
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Schedule Expectations

  • Floating within facility/scope of practice as needed
  • Maximum 7 days of requested time off
  • Major holidays may be required during the assignment period

Compliance and Start Requirements

  • Full compliance is required to start on time
  • Background check must be complete before start
  • Photo ID required
  • Education verification required
  • Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
  • Work history verification of most recent employer required
  • 2 clinical references required
  • Physical exam required
  • TB questionnaire required
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray required
  • Drug screen required
  • Flu vaccine or declination required
  • Measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and hepatitis B documentation required

Additional Notes

  • First-time travelers are accepted
  • Local candidates are accepted
  • Epic and Pyxis are used on the unit
  • Navy blue scrubs required
