Job Opportunity: Hospice Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Sherrills Ford, North Carolina (may occasionally work in Dallas, NC)
Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (3 shifts per week, 36 hours total)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: ASAP

Job Description

• Provide nursing care in in-patient hospice house settings.
• Preferred experience with Suncoast EMR.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina.
• Minimum 1 year of In Patient Care Hospice (IPC) experience within the last year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Certifications (As Applicable)

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – as required.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – as required.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – as required.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) – as required.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID must be carried during work hours.
• Proof of E-Verify or attestation.
• Background checks including:

  • 7-year criminal history check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
  • Social Security trace, county, nationwide, sex offender registry, and FACIS level 3 checks.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated with each contract renewal.
• Primary source verification of state nursing license.
• NURSYS verification for RN license.
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
• Signed orientation safety manual or HIPAA acknowledgement.

Health and Safety Requirements

• Initial physical exam and annual updates confirming ability to meet physical demands.
• Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) or chest X-ray within 1 year; annual updates required.
• Immunization or titer documentation for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella
• 9-panel drug screen within the last 12 months (instant acceptable).
• Seasonal flu vaccination or documented declination during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31).

Additional Requirements

• Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations.
• Completed employment application/resume.
• Annual skills checklist for applicable unit.
• Performance evaluations if previously employed over 1 year; internal evaluations if over 2 years.

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
• This is a travel/contract position with a 13-week assignment.
• Work locations primarily include hospice houses in Newton and Sherrills Ford, NC, with occasional shifts in Dallas, NC.
