Overview

• Travel/contract role in Chicago, Illinois
• Pediatric inpatient stepdown unit
• Start date: ASAP
• Shift options accepted: 3x12 or 4x12
• Day shift: 7:00–19:30
• Guaranteed hours: 36 hours for 3x12, 48 hours for 4x12
• Ratios: 1:3–4
• First-timers accepted: No
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• On-call: No
• Floating: May float within scope to meet facility needs
• Block scheduling: Can be accommodated
• Local candidates accepted: Yes, same rate as travelers
• Pending license accepted: Yes
• RTO must be approved and included in the contract before the start date

Unit Details

• 1 unit, 39 beds
• All specialties on the unit
• 50–60% of patients have some sort of technology dependence
• Patient ages: 2 weeks to 18 years
• Acute care unit caring for children with chronic illness
• No drips or surgical patients

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Pediatric PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• 2 years of Pediatric PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• PALS issued by American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Ventilator management experience
• Tracheostomy care experience
• G tube (gastrostomy tube) care experience
• 1:4 patient ratio experience
• Pediatric Cardiac Stepdown experience
• Experience with Meditech
• Flu vaccine required

Preferred Qualifications

• PICU experience preferred
• ACLS preferred
• Meditech experience

Additional Compliance

• COVID vaccination required; exemptions not accepted
• Tdap within the past 10 years
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray required
• Measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, and varicella immunity/vaccination documentation required
• Drug screen required within 30 days of start
• 2 professional references required within 3 years of start
• Skills checklist required annually
