Medical Assistant Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Los Angeles, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Medical Assistant with OBGYN experience for an outpatient clinic setting. This is a travel/contract position with shifts of 8 hours scheduled between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
Required Qualifications
- Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma from a DAPIP-accredited program OR national certification through AAMA, AMCA, AMT, CCBMA, or MMCI
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient clinic or medical office
- At least 1 year experience in an OBGYN setting
- Experience with medical insurance, referral processes, and benefit plans
- Proficiency in blood/lab draws and venipuncture
- Ability to prepare patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests (blood pressure, weight, temperature) and reporting patient history
- Experience with OBGYN procedures including PAP, Coplo, Leep, D&C, EMB, IUD insertions/removals, Nexplanon, and NST
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years working as a Medical Assistant in outpatient OBGYN
- Experience with CS-Link/Epic electronic health records
- Experience with Quest Diagnostic laboratory submissions
- Phlebotomy certification
- Strong understanding of medical terminology
Job Duties
- Greet patients and take vital signs
- Review and record current medications in medical records
- Assist with tracking and monitoring department-specific data
- Explain policies, procedures, or services to patients within scope of practice
- Set up exam and procedure rooms according to patient visit needs
- Clean and re-process equipment and supplies following guidelines
- Administer immunizations, injections, or oral medications as directed by provider
- Draw and prepare lab work or specimens as directed by provider
Certifications & Compliance Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred or required depending on unit
- Other certifications such as PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM may be required based on assignment
- State license verification required
- Background check including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, sex offender search, and federal district court search
- Education verification including diploma/transcript from accredited program
- Drug screening within 1 year of start date (excluding Marijuana/THC)
- Immunization and health documentation including:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Nov-April) with limited exemptions
- Two professional references required, including one supervisory

- Float location may be required on rare occasions
- Photo for badge must meet strict facility requirements

- Medication and competency exams may be required during orientation
