Job Summary: Clinical Non-Licensed Pool
Location: Orange, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Shift Days: Monday - Friday
- Shift Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Onsite position
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience in specialty
- Accepts first-time travelers (no prior travel experience required)
Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- CIC Credential preferred
Knowledge
- NHSN knowledge and ability to recognize communicable disease symptoms and appropriate transmission
Compliance and Documentation
Background Checks
- Criminal background check within 1 year, updated annually
- 7-year search including statewide, nationwide, sex offender, SS trace, and federal searches
- Education verification required for Sterile Processing Techs
- Livescan fingerprinting required for certain positions (e.g., Principal/Lead Food Service Worker)
Health Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year, updated annually (includes Amphetamines, Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, Cocaine, Opiates, PCP)
- Fit mask testing (N95) within 1 year, renewed annually
- Immunizations or titers required for:
- TB (negative PPD, TSpot, or QGold within 1 year)
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (series or declination)
- Hepatitis C (titer preferred, declination accepted with reason)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap or Pertussis titer if unable to obtain vaccine
- Seasonal flu vaccination required by December 5 (declinations accepted with masking requirements)
- COVID-19 vaccination documentation for current season or facility-specific declination with masking requirements
Competencies and Testing
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required for RNs and LVNs
- Unit-specific competency exams (e.g., Dysrhythmia/EKG for Tele and MS/Tele RNs)
- Infection Control/Bloodborne Pathogens exam required for all clinical and per diem candidates (passing score 80% or higher)
- Pass/fail testing for medication calculation and arrhythmia recognition for applicable nursing roles
Orientation and Facility Specifics
- Orientation modules completed onsite for travel staff
- Scrub color requirements:
- RNs/LVNs: Navy Blue
- CNA/MA: Charcoal Grey
- RRT: Galaxy Blue
- Phlebotomists: Light Gray
- Nuclear Med Tech: Any color
- Inpatient OT: Ceil Blue
- Signed HIPAA acknowledgment required
- Unit-specific job description must be signed prior to start
- Various facility-specific packets and acknowledgments required (e.g., Confidentiality Agreement, Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment Policy, Epidural Pain Policy Review, Standard of Care: Skin Care)
References and History
- Two references within 1 year from leadership roles required (e.g., Department Manager, Supervisor, Charge Nurse)
- Verification of employment for past 3 years required
- Annual performance evaluation required if working with the agency for 1 year or more
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position
- Candidates must comply with all health, background, and competency requirements prior to start
- Facility enforces masking policies based on vaccination status during flu season
This position is suitable for healthcare workers with at least 1 year of clinical experience, who hold BLS certification, and are comfortable working onsite Monday through Friday during daytime hours. First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
