Experience & Certification Requirements

• Years of Experience Required: 2 years in specialty
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
• Certifications/Licenses:

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) by appropriate state department
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required
• Special Procedures/Unit Details:

  • Bedside Bronchoscopy
  • Bedside Percutaneous/Cricothyrotomy tracheostomies
  • ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation)
  • Nitric Oxide Therapy
  • Veletri (Epoprostenol)
  • Lung Transplants
  • ER/Level II Trauma Services

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Identification:

  • Current and valid Driver’s License or State-issued ID
  • Utility bill in traveler’s name with matching address dated within last 3 months (address must be >75 miles from facility)
• Background Checks:

  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC Sanctions List Search updated monthly
  • Education verification (transcript/diploma) required
  • Fingerprinting may be required depending on facility
• Health Requirements:

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and no physical limitations
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • Immunizations: Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer), Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (mandatory for Respiratory Care)
  • Flu vaccine required annually (or approved medical/religious exemption)
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen including marijuana (required within 30 days prior to start)
  • COVID vaccination strongly preferred (declinations accepted with agency form)
• Competency Exams & Training:

  • Unit-specific competency exams with passing scores required annually
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (100% passing score)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (90% passing score)
  • Core Parts I, II, III competency exams annually
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (HIPAA and OSHA)
  • Fit testing for N95 masks completed onsite prior to or on first day
• Facility Specific:

  • Patient Care Orientation Class required for all RNs (if applicable)
  • EPIC training required if no EPIC experience within 6 months
  • Fit testing for masks completed onsite
  • Completion of various policy acknowledgments and agreements prior to start

References & Work History

• Two former direct supervisor references required (one within 1 year, one within 3 years)
• Current and updated resume covering last 7 years of employment with explanations for gaps over 30 days
• 10-year work history verification including international positions
