Job Opportunity: Therapy/Rehabilitation - San Diego, California
Position Details
- Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation (Speech-Language Pathologist)
- Location: San Diego, California
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 20 weeks (interpreted from 20)
- Shift: Options for either 5x8 hour shifts or 4x10 hour shifts, Monday through Friday
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the specialty
- Experience working with children aged 0-3 years
- Experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Experience in a children’s hospital setting
- California state license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)
- Pediatric outpatient experience
- VitalStim certification preferred
- Note: School experience does not count toward experience for this position
Certifications & Licenses
- California state professional license required
- BLS (AHA only, HeartCode Complete Provider acceptable)
- CCC-SLP (ASHA certification required for SLPs)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required for most clinical roles in children’s hospital settings (exceptions apply)
- Other certifications may be required depending on specific clinical area (e.g., ACLS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC) but are not mandatory for this role
Compliance & Documentation
- Valid photo ID (front and back) required on first day
- Background checks including criminal history, sex offender search, national criminal database, education verification, and others must be completed within 30 days of start
- Education verification required; transcripts/diploma acceptable as placeholders if verification is pending
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by an MD, DO, NP, PA, or APRN, confirming good health without restrictions
- Fit test for N95 masks within 1 year of start (not required for non-clinical roles)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months or documentation of past positive with follow-up
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines on facility letterhead
- Hepatitis B series or titer (titer preferred)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (declinations not accepted)
- Negative 9-panel drug test (non-THC) within 30 days of start
- Photo for badge must be submitted prior to start (JPEG format, recent, plain background)
Competency Exams & Testing
- Pediatric Pharmacology competency exam required, minimum score 80%
- Competency exams relevant to pediatric care required, minimum score 80%, must be current within 1 year
- Core Part I, II, and III competency exams required annually
- Medication calculation test required for all RNs (not applicable for this role)
- Pass/fail testing acknowledgment required for all RNs (not applicable for this role)
Additional Facility-Specific Requirements
- Completion and signing of various facility-specific forms prior to start, including:
- HIPAA & PHI form
- Meal waiver form
- Professional accountability expectations
- Confidentiality agreement
- Code of conduct
- Fingernail hygiene policy
- Traveler policy acknowledgment
- Badge photo submission required by Wednesday prior to start
- Vehicle registration form completion if applicable
- References: Two supervisory references verified within 1 year of start from clinical leadership (director, supervisor, or manager). Charge RNs are not acceptable unless for return candidates with specific conditions.
