Job Opportunity: Neuro ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Columbia, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Float between ICU and Medical-Surgical units
• Patient ratio: 1:2
• Work every other weekend, including 50% of holidays and weekends
• Rotating shifts with potential work during inclement weather
• Active role requiring ambulation, reaching, and moving objects over 20 lbs
• Exposure to patients with contagious illnesses in a 24/7 healthcare facility

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience
• Stroke experience required
• Strong neuro checklist skills preferred
• First-time travelers are welcome (prior travel experience NOT required)

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Missouri
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC Provider card required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC Provider card required
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) preferred but not mandatory

Essential Job Functions

• Ability to work full contract term at assigned location
• Ability to work full shifts, take call, assigned weekends, and at least 50% of holidays

Physical & Work Environment Demands

• Active role with physical demands including ambulating and lifting
• Exposure to contagious illnesses
• Work in a facility open 24/7, 365 days/year

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check required within 60 days of start
• E-Verify and I9 documentation required
• Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) or Caregiver search required within 60 days
• Drug screening (7 panel) within 60 days of start
• State-specific background checks and verifications as required

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year (specific mask types required)
• Tdap vaccination within 10 years or approved exemption
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year, updated annually
• Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination required
• Hepatitis B series or positive titer required (declinations not accepted for new candidates)
• Varicella immunity or vaccination required
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)

Documentation & Other Requirements

• Photo for badge (new candidates only)
• Access and Confidentiality Agreement within 60 days of start
• New hire packet and employment eligibility certification within 60 days
• Two professional references within last 2 years
• Resume with minimum 7 years employment history, no gaps over 30 days
• Skills checklist updated annually

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
• Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience, including experience within the last year
• ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
• Stroke experience
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Preferred Qualifications

• NIH Stroke Certification preferred but not required
