Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse

Location: Elizabethtown, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Strong experience with IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump) and CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) required
• Management of vented patients and airway management
• Artline management (preferred for ER)
• Management of dysrhythmias and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Central line management and management of IV drips
• Isolation precautions and triage skills (ER/ER Holding only)
• Computerized documentation
• Nurse to patient ratios 1:1-2+
• NIH Stroke certification knowledge
• Interpretation of ABGs (Arterial Blood Gases)
• Continuous IV sedation and titration of IV vasopressors
• Management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• 1.5+ years of recent ICU nursing experience required

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Kentucky
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA only)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (AHA only)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification (required only for ER)
• NIH Stroke Certification (must be within 1 year of start date unless otherwise stated)
• NURSYS verification required for RN license
• Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required to be updated annually)
• Fit mask test (respirator fit test) updated annually
• Immunizations and health requirements:

  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or IgG titer required
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or IgG titer required
  • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer, series, or declination required
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
• Negative 9-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
• Background checks including 7-year criminal check, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and education verification matching specialty
• Kentucky Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry check
• 2 professional references required

Additional Skills & Competencies

• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Color blind testing prior to start
• Unit-specific skills checklist (updated annually)
