OR Surgical Technician

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM

Facility & Services Overview

• Level 3 trauma center
• Surgical services include bariatric, vascular, general, robotic, orthopedic, orthopedic trauma, pain management, thoracic, ophthalmology, and urology
• On-call requirement: 1-2 days per week, including at least 1 weekend day per month (typically split Saturday and Sunday)

Required Qualifications

Licensure & Certification

• Certified Surgical Technologist with a minimum of 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
• American Heart Association BLS certification required (must be current for clinical positions)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Hepatitis B vaccination or proof of immunity
• MMR vaccination or proof of immunity
• Tdap vaccination within the last 10 years
• Varicella vaccination or proof of immunity

Health & Immunization Requirements

• COVID-19 vaccine preferred but not mandatory (medical or religious exemptions accepted)
• Positive MMR titers within last 15 years required; booster protocol applies if titers are low
• Positive Varicella titers within last 15 years required; booster protocol applies if titers are low
• Tdap vaccination within the last 10 years (no declinations accepted)
• Hepatitis B: Proof of full series, partial series with signed declination, or positive titer within 15 years
• 2-Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) with negative results within last 6 months; annual requirement
• Fit test for N95 respirators completed within 1 year prior to start and updated annually
• Physical exam within 1 year prior to start confirming ability to work without restrictions

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Valid permanent professional license/certification verification (temporary licenses not accepted)
• Non-expired photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required
• Criminal background check within 6 months prior to start, including Social Security trace, county searches (7 years), national sex offender registry, and national criminal sweep
• Ohio fingerprinting and background checks as applicable based on residency duration
• Employment verification for the last 5 years through third-party verification (no attestations)
• Education verification through third-party (international equivalency required if applicable)
• U.S. work eligibility verification (I-9 attestation or completed I-9 on file)
• OIG exclusion check, SAM/EPLS/GSA/OFAC screening within 6 months prior to start
• Drug screen within 60 days prior to start (10-panel, lab report required; instant screens not accepted)
• Completion of required safety and compliance training modules prior to clearance; annual renewal required

Skills & Competency

• Completion of clinical skills checklist within 1 year prior to start (one-time requirement)
• Competency exam for relevant department with minimum 80% score within 1 year prior to start (one-time requirement)
• Core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals, OSHA topics with minimum 80% score within 1 year prior to start (one-time requirement)

Additional Notes

• On-site fit testing for respirators is not allowed; must be completed externally
• If positive PPD, clear chest X-ray (valid for 5 years) and current TB questionnaire required
• Influenza vaccine is optional; if declined, masking and specific attestation forms are required during flu season (October–March)
• Attestations are generally not accepted except for fingerprinting pending results with proper documentation
