Job Opportunity: Art Therapist – Mental Health Inpatient Unit

Location: Trenton, New Jersey
Contract Length: 8 weeks

Schedule

• Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week
• Mandatory every other weekend rotation

Required Qualifications

• Must be licensed or certified as an Art Therapist
• AHA BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of previous experience in a behavioral health setting

Job Description / Essential Functions

• Conduct allied therapy and psychoeducational groups, primarily providing group psychotherapy using therapeutic interventions that facilitate both non-verbal and verbal communication
• Perform comprehensive clinical assessments and develop individualized treatment plans to promote stabilization and recovery in adult and geriatric psychiatric populations
• Complete allied clinical therapy assessments for admitted patients and maintain accurate, timely documentation of all services rendered
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary treatment team in the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans
• Provide patient education, crisis intervention, and therapeutic support as needed
• Order and maintain group therapy supplies within established budget parameters
• Communicate and coordinate care with representatives of other disciplines to ensure integrated, patient-centered care
• Participate in unit-based activities, continuing education, performance improvement initiatives, staff meetings, conferences, and agency-sponsored educational programs
