Registered Nurse - ICU

Location: Auburn, Washington
Specialty: Nursing Resource (ICU/PCU)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

Floating position within Auburn (or possibly Covington) covering ICU level patients or below.
Majority of time (75%) spent with PCU level patients in ED overflow.
Patient types include respiratory failure, ESRD, AKI, COPD, GI bleeds, DKA, sepsis, general post-op patients, CVAs, ETOH, overdose.
No craniotomies, major traumas, or major cardiothoracic cases.
Weekend rotation every other weekend.
Unit has 16 ICU beds.

Experience & Requirements

Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required.
Considered suitable for first-time travelers (prior travel experience NOT required).

Certifications

Required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
Preferred: CCRN

Skills

Cardiac rhythm interpretation and telemetry monitoring
Ventilator, trach, and BiPAP management
Invasive line management
Ostomy care, general drains, chest tubes
IV medication titration
May act as “lead” in ED holding area
Experience with EPIC EMR required

Equipment & Systems

EPIC (required)
Alaris IV Pumps
Pyxis medication dispensing system

Additional Information

Scrubs: any color except camo; navy blue preferred.

Traveler friendly.

Cons

Excessive amount of floating though. If you work days, you’ll be floating almost every shift. Nights, you’ll float at least once if not twice a week.
