Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• ED - Emergency Department (2 years of experience)
• ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or RQI
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or RQI
• PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support issued by American Heart Association or RQI
• NIH Stroke Certification (NIHSS)
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience with Epic

Health and Screening Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• N95 fit test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (PAPR accepted only with proof of a failed N95 fit test)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, or a Pertussis titer showing immunity if Tdap cannot be obtained for a health reason
• TB: negative PPD, TSpot, or QGold within 1 year of start; or a positive TB result with a negative chest X-ray within 4 years plus an annual TB questionnaire
• Measles (rubeola), mumps, rubella, and varicella: positive titer, or 2 vaccines after age 1 (negative or equivocal titers require 2 boosters, and the candidate may start with the 2nd booster pending)
• Hepatitis B: vaccine series or declination (titer not accepted)
• Hepatitis C: titer strongly preferred; declination accepted if necessary
• 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start (instant drug screen accepted; not updated annually)
• Flu vaccine or signed declination required by 12/5 for the 2026-27 season; onsite vaccines offered
• Universal masking applies to candidates without current flu and Covid vaccinations; fully vaccinated candidates may be exempt from masking in certain areas

Background and Verification

• Criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually, with a 7-year search covering statewide, nationwide, sex offender, SS trace, and federal searches
• Open cases or DUI within the last 5 years result in automatic cancellation
• Government-issued photo ID required
• 2 professional references completed within 1 year of start, from a leadership role (department manager, supervisor, charge nurse, nurse manager, or assistant nurse manager)
• Employment application uploaded to the report

Orientation and Onboarding Documents

• Orientation modules completed onsite or at home after activating network ID; modules must be complete before starting on the floor. Registry candidates sign a waiver onsite instead.
• First Day Instructions are sent by the program manager the Friday before start
• Pyxis agreement required for travel and per diem RNs, due 5 business days before orientation
• Confidentiality agreement completed within 72 hours of signing
• Unit-specific job description signed before start
• Orientation info packet for RNs and LVNs reviewed and acknowledged
• Skills self-assessment completed for RNs
• Epidural pain policy reviewed before start
• Standard of Care: Skin Care packet reviewed and attested
• Traveler acknowledgement, Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment Policy, and the Infection Control/Bloodborne Pathogens study guide reviewed
• Infection control/bloodborne pathogens exam (full exam required; CORE exams not accepted; 80% passing score)
• Wage Benefit Parity form completed for each new travel assignment (not required for extensions)
• Per diem candidates must also complete the workplace violence prevention acknowledgement and the POCT testing sheet (RNs)
