Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (CCU) - Auburn, New York
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Critical Care Stepdown / CCU)
- Location: Auburn, New York
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
- Schedule: Every Other Week (EOW) & Every Other Holiday (EOH) - no blocked scheduling
- Locals Accepted: Yes, at a lower rate
Experience Requirements
- Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years in Critical Care Stepdown
- Additional Experience: 2 years post-cath experience required
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
Certifications & Licenses Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Must be AHA certified
- BLS (Basic Life Support): Must be AHA certified
- NIH Stroke Scale Training: Required (minimum 2 hours, part of stroke education)
- State Nursing License: Primary source verification required prior to start
- NURSYS Verification: Required prior to start
- Other Certifications:
- Pass/Fail Telemetry Testing on first day of orientation (minimum 80% score) for cardiac rhythm interpretation in specified departments including CCU
- Stroke education (8 hours annually for CCU RNs)
- Additional Certifications: PALS, NRP, EFM, and others may be required depending on unit; check unit specifics
Competency & Testing
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required as applicable
- Telemetry Assessment: Required on first day for cardiac rhythm proficiency; remediation provided if needed
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Background Check: Within 1 year covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years; must be complete before start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG Checks: Required prior to start
- Driver’s License/State ID: Unexpired government-issued photo ID required
- Facility-Specific Documents: Code of Conduct, Patient Abuse Reporting, Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement, Orientation Packet, Automated Dispensing Cabinet Security, Annual Tuberculosis Screening Questionnaire (updated annually)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam: Full physical within 12 months of start, signed by licensed provider
- Fit Mask Test: Within 12 months of start, updated annually
- Vaccinations/Immunity:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within last 10 years or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunity (2 MMR vaccines or serologic titers)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
- Varicella immunity (2 vaccines, positive titer, or documented history)
- Flu vaccine or declination during flu season
- COVID vaccine records or declination
- Drug Testing: 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, opiates, cocaine, methadone)
Additional Requirements
- References: 2 professional references within 3 years of hire

- State Specific: New York State Nurse Aide Registry and Medicaid Exclusion List checks required
