Job Opportunity: Telemetry Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Telemetry Registered Nurse with strong cardiac telemetry skills for a night shift float pool position. This role requires managing cardiac patients including titrating drips and caring for pre/post cardiac cath patients. The nurse must be willing to float and work 3x12 hour night shifts with every other weekend required.

Required Experience

• Minimum 18 months true telemetry experience with cardiac patients (including titrating drips, experience with sheaths, pre/post cardiac cath patients)
• Prior travel experience required (No first-time travelers)

Shift Details

• Night shift (3 shifts of 12 hours)
• Every other weekend required
• Start: ASAP

Licensure & Certifications

• Valid Missouri RN license or Compact RN license
• Required certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - 8-hour in-person course required starting 1/1/2026
  • NIHSS Stroke Certification
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred but not required
• Must pass an EKG competency exam on orientation day with a minimum score of 80%, including lethal rhythm interpretation
• Telemetry placements require 8 cardiac and 8 stroke CEUs annually

Key Requirements

• Experience with Cerner charting system (required)
• Must be willing to float to other units as needed
• Must be willing to care for COVID-19 positive patients
• No block scheduling; time off requests after submission will not be approved
• Must wear navy blue scrubs
• Must pass a fit mask test onsite (no facial hair allowed)

Continuing Education & Competencies

• Dysrhythmia Advanced Course required prior to start
• Annual CEU requirements for Telemetry RN:

  • 8 cardiac CEUs
  • 8 stroke CEUs (including NIHSS)
• Pass/fail acknowledgment for telemetry EKG testing required

Health & Safety Requirements

• Flu shot required (medical/religious exemptions accepted with approved facility forms)
• COVID vaccination required or acceptable COVID waiver form
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (instant tests not accepted)
• Must comply with facility dress code and artificial/natural nail policies
• Safe Medication Administration Agreement required

Background & Verification

• Criminal background check covering all states/counties lived or worked in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and OIG checks required
• Missouri EDL search required prior to start
• License primary source verification and NURSYS verification required
• Education verification (diploma/transcripts) required for ED nurses (not applicable here but noted)

• Candidates must complete HealthStream modules and skills checklists during orientation
• Must provide 2 recent references
• Skills checklist required
• No first-time travelers accepted; prior travel experience is mandatory

This position is ideal for experienced telemetry RNs with strong cardiac skills and prior travel contract experience who are flexible with floating and night shifts.
