Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health (Pediatrics)

Location: Helena, Montana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Requirements

• Minimum 1+ year behavioral health/psychiatric nursing experience with pediatric population
• Milieu management experience required
• Experience working primarily with children and adolescents presenting with suicidal ideations, ADHD, and spectrum disorders
• Prior travel experience not explicitly required

Work Schedule

• Night shifts
• Every other weekend required

Population & Setting

• Pediatric behavioral health unit in an 82-bed children’s hospital
• Facility operates 24/7
• Charting system: Epic

Certifications & Licenses

• Current RN license with primary source verification required
• CPR (BLS and First Aid) certification required (BLS must be AHA or ARC; First Aid must be in-person)
• ACLS, PALS certifications required based on unit description (AHA or ARC)
• National certification/verification as applicable by profession and state
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification preferred; facility will provide training if candidate does not have it

Competencies

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required as applicable
• Competency Exam required as applicable to profession/specialty

Background & Health Requirements

• Background check within 1 year including SS Trace, County searches (7 years), Nationwide, Sex Offender registry
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required prior to start
• Physical exam within last 12 months
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
• TB questionnaire for past positives or in lieu of annual test
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• 10 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)

Additional Requirements

• Completion of facility-specific online training modules (~8-12 hours) prior to orientation
• Signed acknowledgment of Joint Commission Training Safety Manual annually
• Two professional references within 3 years
• Skills checklist required
